Kargil Victory Day
Kargil Victory Day is celebrated on July 26 every year to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs of the Kargil War. The day was celebrated in the country’s capital New Delhi along with the Kargil border. That day in India
The Prime Minister visited the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate in New Delhi and paid tributes to the memory of the fighters of the Kargil war. Various programs are also held in other parts of the country to commemorate the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country. The Pakistani army entered the inaccessible Kargil border in Jam and Kashmir in 1999 and tried to occupy Indian territory. India launched an operation against the Pakistani army called ‘Operation Vijay’ The Indian Army declared victory in Kargil on 26 July 1999 after a heroic battle for nearly 60 days. Since then, Kargil Victory Day has been celebrated on 26 July every year.
