Netaji Day
The birthday of Subhas Chandra Bose, a prominent nationalist leader of India, is celebrated as Netaji Diwas or Netaji Jayanti. The West Bengal government has also been observing this day as Patriotism Day. On January 23, the national flag was hoisted in West Bengal to pay homage to Netaji with military honours. The West Bengal government has been demanding the Central Government to declare this day as Patriotism Day across India. However, on Netaji Day, this great leader is remembered through various programs across the country. For this, memorial meetings, lectures, etc. are also organized. Subhas Chandra Bose was born on January 23, 1897 in Odisha, a prominent character in India’s freedom movement. He was elected president of the Indian National Congress in 1936 but due to disagreements with the Executive Committee of the Congress, in 1939 formed a new party called the Forward Bloc.On January 17, 1941, when Subhas Chandra was imprisoned at his home in The British Government, he escaped from the country and went to Afghanistan, Russia, and went to Germany. In 1943, he went to Japan and became the commander-in-chief of the armed forces called ‘Azad Hind Fauj’. Subhas Chandra’s army, which witnessed the independence of India in armed struggle, hoisted the national flag on March 18, 1944, when the British army attacked the Border with India in Burma and hoisted the national flag in India. However, in the second world, the Azad Hind Fauj faced special difficulties due to the disaster of Japan and the army of the army was forced to surrender to the English army. On August 22, 1945, the Tokyo Radio announced the death of Netaji in a plane crash on The Island of Farmosa, although the actual information about this remains unknown. It is to be noted that in 1992, the Bharat Bharat Samman was awarded to Subhas Chandra Bose in the mortal service, but the honour was withdrawn in the wake of the protest.
