Nerid, Neptune’s third largest known moon and the second to be discovered. It was photographically explored by Dutch American astronomer Gerard P. Kuiper in 1949. It is named in Greek mythology after several daughters of the sea god Nerius, called Nerids. Nerid has a diameter of about 340 km (210 mi). Language: English
