The war began in April 1965 with Pakistan’s Operation Desert Hawk at the Run of Kutch. Pakistan claimed its right over large parts of Kutch. According to Russell Bryan’s book Indo-Pakistan Conflict, the first stage of the war conspiracy hatched by Pakistan against India was Operation Desert Hawk.
