Tests are a measuring tool used to evaluate the achievement of students. Testing means overall observation. Examinations, on the other hand, are part of the examination. The differences between assessment and testing are___
(a) Evaluation is a comprehensive and continuous process. However, testing is a fragmented, limited part of the assessment.
(b) Through assessment we measure the whole personality of the learner. On the other hand, tests can only measure students’ subject knowledge and specific abilities.
(c) Three types of examinations—written, oral and practical—are usually accepted in view of the syllabus completed within the specified time. In addition to tests, evaluation can be conducted through various methods such as observation, questionnaire, interview, quality assessment, records etc. (d) Tests do not accurately measure the progress of students
(e) Assessment helps in the progress of both candidate learning and teacher teaching. On the other hand, the purpose of the test is to judge the present in the context of the past Language: English
