United Nations Day is celebrated every year on October 24 to coincide with the Founding Day of the United Nations. The day is part of the United Nations Week, which is celebrated annually from October 22 to October 26. In a resolution in 1971, the United Nations General Assembly decided to observe October 24 as an international day. The day mainly talks about the goals and achievements of the United Nations. It is worth mentioning that the devastation created in the first great war and the indescribable condition of the people shocked the world. Apart from escaping the horrors of the war, a sense of peace and security is created among the people. Several rounds of discussions were held between the leaders of the world’s welfare countries to do so. In 1920, an organization called the United Nations was formed with the inclusion of 42 member states, but it collapsed immediately after the Second World War. The United Nations was later formed by countries that fought against Germany’s Nazi party in the Second World War. In 1941, the issue of the creation of the United Nations gained special significance in the negotiations between US President Bosvelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. In 1943, Stalin of Russia also agreed to this matter. In 1944, the United Nations Charter was signed at a discussion in Washington. Finally, on October 24, 1945, the United Nations was established with the inclusion of fifty countries. Some of the major organs of the United Nations are the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council, the International Court of Justice, the Trusteeship Council, and the Secretariat.
