World Water Day
World Water Day has been celebrated every year on March 22 since 1993. In 1992, it was decided to celebrate the day at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development held in Rio-de Janeiro, the capital of Brazil. The issue of water conservation has become very important in view of the water crisis that is likely to arise due to the increase in population and expansion of habitat all over the world. Millions of people around the world today are deprived of clean drinking water; In such a situation, if there is no focus on frugal use of water and water conservation, the situation will become extremely grim in the near future. On World Water Day, many voluntary organizations, in addition to the member states of the United Nations, conduct awareness campaigns for water conservation. This day is celebrated for a week in different countries. It may be recalled that in 2003, 2006 and 2009, the United Nations published the World Water Development Report in line with The World Water Day. The fourth report in this regard was published on March 22, 2012. The theme set for World Water Day in 2012 was water and food security.
